veZBU is an acronym for vote-escrowed ZBU. Users can lock their ZBU for a minimum of 1 Day, maximum of 2 years, in return the user is given veZBU. veZBU is not transferrable. The longer you lock the more veZBU you receive, see the locking formula section for a detailed explanation but the simple explanation is:
1 ZBU locked for 2 years = 1 veZBU
1 ZBU locked for 1 years = 0.75 veZBU
1 ZBU locked for 6 month = 0.25 veZBU
1 ZBU locked for 1 day = 0.0006845 veZBU
Locking was a concept created to align incentives for governance. Many coin voting systems have a problem where someone can buy tokens off the market to influence a governance vote, then sell the tokens after the vote passed/failed. These users can influence governance votes greatly and only take minimal risk by holding tokens for a few days. Locking stops this happening. Users must lock their tokens for a period of time to receive voting power, and users are rewarded with more voting power if they lock their tokens for a longer period of time.
To find out how to lock see the guide here: lock ZBU tokens
Info
The amount of veZBU shown as a statistic in various places is not a true reflection of the amount of locked ZBU. As 1 veZBU does not equal 1 ZBU due to locking time and decay. Read the locking information section of this page for more information
Users with veZBU are given the following benefits:
ZIP Boosters
When users stake their ZBU tokens, they earn ZIP points based on the lock-in duration. These ZIP points increase their chances of receiving ZBU airdrops during each epoch announcement and duration, providing additional incentives for users to stake and lock their tokens for longer periods.
Earn APY Through Delegation
Users can delegate their VeZBU tokens to one or up to eight deployer nodes, depending on their preferred lock-in time. This delegation allows them to earn APYs from the deployers based on the deployers' earnings, providing an opportunity for users to maximize their returns by strategically choosing which deployers to delegate their VeZBU to.
Governance
The veZBU balance represents the voting power of a user in the Zeebu Foundation, which allows them to vote on on-chain proposals.
When a user locks their ZBU tokens for voting, they will receive veZBU based on the lock duration and the amount locked. Locking is not reversible and veZBU tokens are non-transferable. If a user decides to vote-lock their ZBU tokens, they will only be able to reclaim the ZBU tokens after the lock duration has ended.
Additionally, a user cannot have multiple locks with different expiry dates. However, a lock can be extended, or additional ZBU can be added to it at any time.
ZBU to veZBU formula
When locking ZBU to veZBU you are rewarded with an amount of veZBU based on how long you lock, the minimum time is 1 day, the maximum time is 2 years:
1 ZBU = 0.0006845 VeZBU / Day

( 0.001369 X 730 )
All votes are given daily to delegators.
The maximum duration of a lock is 2 years, users cannot lock for longer periods to keep the 1 ZBU: 1 veZBU ratio, they must instead continue extending their lock. Users can withdraw their ZBU at any time after their veZBU has decayed to 0 (lock time has expired).
veZBU decay
The amount of veZBU a user has will decay over time as their unlock date draws closer. The lockTime
parameter in the equation above should more aptly be called lockTimeLeft
as a user's veZBU is constantly recalculated. There are two ways a user can change their lock. They can add to their lock or they can extend their lock. What happens in both situations and how it affects their veZBU and the decay is shown in the charts below.
ZBU Protocol emerges as a groundbreaking decentralized liquidity engine specifically engineered for the dynamic DeFi landscape. It integrates a sophisticated ecosystem involving multiple participant roles and innovative mechanisms to ensure efficient, secure, and decentralized settlements.
Role: Delegators are standard users who stake their ZBU tokens within the platform.
Process: Upon staking ZBU, Delegators receive VeZBU tokens, which empower them with voting rights and influence within the ecosystem.
Rewards: They earn daily rewards based on the amount of VeZBU staked and the activities performed by the Deployers they support.
Role: Deployers act as infrastructure providers critical to the platform’s functionality.
Eligibility: To become a Deployer, participants must stake a significant amount of ZBU tokens.
Function: They use their staked VeZBU to deploy settlement smart contracts. These contracts manage the settlement processes, leveraging the staked VeZBU to allow for the settlement of invoices up to the value of the VeZBU held.
Rewards: Deployers earn a 0.60% fee on each transaction they facilitate, incentivizing them to maintain and expand their operations.
Role: OLPs are liquidity providers who ensure that assets within the platform are sufficiently liquid.
Function: They contribute to the liquidity pools, maintaining a specified ratio (typically 20-80 [ZBU-USDC]) to balance the pool. This ratio ensures that there is enough liquidity available for the settlement cycles they support.
Rewards: OLPs earn a 0.40% reward on each settlement cycle that utilizes their provided liquidity, encouraging them to commit more resources to the platform.
Role
Merchants utilize the Zeebu PSP platform for Invoice settlements.
Responsibilities
Primarily, it includes telecom carriers using #ZBU for invoice settlements with their counter party.
Functionality: The Vault is a staking mechanism where users can lock their ZBU tokens for a period ranging from 0 to 720 days.
Token Issuance: Based on the amount and duration of the stake, participants receive VeZBU tokens. The longer the lock-in period, the higher the number of VeZBU tokens issued, enhancing the staker's influence and reward potential within the platform.
Usage: VeZBU tokens are essential for participating in settlement cycles and earning rewards, serving as a key tool for governance and transaction validation.
Structure: The primary liquidity pool pairs ZBU with USDT, maintaining a 20-80 (ZBU-USDC) ratio to optimize liquidity availability versus demand.
Participation: Liquidity providers contribute ZBU and USDT to the pool and receive LP tokens in return.
Incentives: These LP tokens can be locked for periods of 6, 12, or 24 months, during which holders earn rewards based on the liquidity utilized in settlement cycles. This locking mechanism stabilizes the pool and ensures ongoing liquidity support.

What is LP token:
LP tokens are digital assets you receive when you deposit your cryptocurrency into a liquidity pool on a decentralized exchange (DEX). These tokens represent your share of the pool and the rewards earned from transaction fees.
For example: If you add $100 worth of tokens to a liquidity pool, you get LP tokens in return. You can redeem them later to withdraw your share, along with any earned rewards. Learn More

The ZBU Gas Bank is a crucial component of the ZBU Protocol, designed to streamline and manage transaction fees efficiently. It ensures that all network costs associated with settlement and transactions are covered without causing delays or failures in processing. Here's a detailed explanation and guide on how the ZBU Gas Bank functions, including how Deployers interact with it:
Deposit of GAS Tokens
Action: Deployers must deposit a sufficient amount of GAS tokens into their accounts within the ZBU Gas Bank. This deposit ensures they have the necessary funds to cover the blockchain network fees for transactions they initiate.
Process:
Access the ZBU Gas Bank via the ZBU platform.
Transfer GAS tokens from your main wallet to your Gas Bank account.
Automated Fee Deduction
Action: For each transaction or settlement cycle that a Deployer initiates, the corresponding blockchain network fee is automatically calculated and deducted from their Gas Bank account.
Mechanism:
When a Deployer executes a settlement, the smart contract interfacing with the Gas Bank checks the Deployer’s account balance.
If sufficient funds are available, the fee is deducted, and the transaction proceeds.
If the account balance is insufficient, the transaction is reverted, and the Deployer is notified to deposit more GAS tokens.
Managing Insufficient Funds
Scenario: If a Deployer’s Gas Bank account does not hold enough GAS tokens to cover the network fee, the order will not be processed.
Action Required:
Deployers should regularly monitor their Gas Bank balance through the ZBU platform dashboard.
It’s recommended to maintain a buffer amount of GAS tokens to avoid transaction reversion due to fluctuating network fees.
Benefits of ZBU Gas Bank
Efficiency: Centralizes the management of gas fees, simplifying the transaction process for Deployers.
Reliability: Ensures that all transactions have the necessary fees covered, reducing the risk of failed transactions.
Predictability: Helps Deployers manage their financial obligations by providing tools to monitor and replenish gas funds as needed.
Decentralized Finance (DeFi) has significantly reshaped the financial landscape by democratizing access to financial services. Traditionally dominated by centralized institutions, financial services have transitioned to a more inclusive model through blockchain technology. DeFi eliminates intermediaries such as banks and brokers, thereby reducing costs and increasing transaction speed. The adoption of smart contracts on blockchains like Ethereum has further facilitated complex financial operations directly between parties, fostering a new era of innovation in protocols offering lending, borrowing, trading, and risk management.
While DeFi continues to grow, several critical issues persist:
Settlement Inefficiencies: Many DeFi transactions suffer from slow processing times and high costs, especially during periods of network congestion.
Liquidity Shortages: Effective settlement of transactions, particularly large volumes, often requires substantial liquidity which can be scarce in decentralized environments.
Centralization Risks: Several prominent DeFi projects rely on centralized components to manage parts of their operations, creating potential security risks and points of failure.
Limited Scalability: Existing settlement solutions struggle to scale effectively with the increasing demand and complexity of DeFi applications.
These challenges compromise the efficiency, security, and scalability of DeFi services, hindering their potential to fully replace traditional financial systems.
In response to these persistent issues, ZBU Protocol offers a decentralized liquidity solution specifically tailored for the DeFi ecosystem. It utilizes a unique combination of participant roles and innovative mechanisms to facilitate efficient, secure, and scalable settlements.
Delegators: Users who stake ZBU tokens, receiving VeZBU in return, which empowers them to participate in the ecosystem and earn rewards.
Deployers: Critical infrastructural participants who also run as Validator/On-chain Clearing House, upon staking ZBU, can deploy smart contracts for settlements, leveraging their VeZBU holdings to manage larger transactions and earn fees.
On-Demand Liquidity Providers (OLPs): Liquidity providers who balance asset pools, ensuring sufficient liquidity to support ongoing transactions and earning a percentage of the transaction fees.
The protocol includes advanced features such as a staking vault and a specialized liquidity pool, promoting an efficient and equitable distribution of rewards across its participants.
The inception of ZBU Protocol was driven by the following necessities in the DeFi market:
Enhancing Decentralization: To uphold the core ethos of DeFi, reducing reliance on centralized components and intermediaries is crucial. ZBU Protocol fosters a fully decentralized network where all participants have equal potential to contribute and benefit.
Optimizing Liquidity Utilization: By structuring more efficient liquidity pools and incentivizing participants through rewards, ZBU Protocol ensures that sufficient liquidity is always available for settlement processes.
Scalable and Flexible Settlements: The protocol is designed to accommodate a high volume of transactions without compromising on speed or security, adapting to the needs of both small and large-scale DeFi projects.
Bridging TradeFi and DeFi: ZBU Protocol aims to create a seamless interface between traditional finance and decentralized finance, facilitating easier and more efficient integration of legacy financial assets into the blockchain ecosystem.
ZBU Protocol not only addresses these needs but also pioneers new opportunities for innovation and growth within the DeFi sector. By providing robust, scalable, and decentralized settlement solutions, it paves the way for the next generation of financial services.

To establish a clear and fair penalty calculation policy for early unstaking in the ZBU Protocol, we created a system that is both transparent and incentivizes long-term participation. Here’s a complete penalty policy:
Linear Penalty Rate: The penalty for early unstaking decreases linearly over the staking period.
Maximum Penalty Rate: 90% at the start of staking.
Minimum Penalty Rate: 0% at the end of the staking period.
To Staked Amount: The penalty is applied to the amount of ZBU tokens staked.
Penalty Rate at time of unstaking = Maximum Penalty Rate×(Remaining Staking Period/ Total Staking Period).
Example: If a user unstakes halfway through the staking period, the penalty rate would be 90%×(1/2) =45%.
Unstaking Threshold: Unstaking is not allowed if the penalty exceeds 90%.
