Keeping Your Browser Fresh and Updated

Q: Why should I ensure my browser is updated?

A: An updated browser provides you with the latest features, optimal performance, and crucial security patches. It's your first line of defense against many online threats.

Q: How can I manually update my browser? General Steps:

  1. Open your browser menu.

  2. Navigate to the 'About' section of your browser.

  3. Click the 'Update' button.

  4. After updating, close and relaunch your browser.

NOTE: The steps might slightly vary depending on the browser you're using. Here are specific steps for popular browsers:

How to Update Google Chrome:

  1. Launch Chrome.

  2. Click on the Menu (three vertical dots in the top right corner).

  3. Navigate to Help > About Google Chrome.

  4. Chrome will automatically check for updates. If available, click 'Update Google Chrome'.

  5. Close and relaunch Chrome to apply the update.

How to Update Firefox:

  1. Launch Firefox.

  2. Click on the Menu (three horizontal lines in the top right corner).

  3. Navigate to Help > About Firefox.

  4. If an update is available, click 'Restart to Update Firefox'.

How to Update Internet Explorer:

NOTE: Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 11 in June 2022. No further updates are available. Consider switching to another browser for a more secure and updated experience. If needed, use Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge.

How to Update Microsoft Edge:

  1. Launch Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click on the Menu (three horizontal dots in the top right corner).

  3. Navigate to Help and Feedback > About Microsoft Edge.

  4. If an update is available, Edge will start updating automatically.

How to Update Safari:

NOTE:Apple now integrates Safari updates with OS updates. To ensure you have the latest version:

  1. Click on the Apple menu (top left corner).

  2. Navigate to System Preferences.

  3. Click on Software Update.

  4. Follow the prompts to update your OS, which will also update Safari.
